In a world where multitasking is the norm, many skin care consumers are searching for a day cream that offers moisturization with a hint of illumination and sun protection. But do these “all-in-one” products now popular in the marketplace really deliver? At Origins, indeed. Its VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen ($35), said to offer “skin-perfecting radiance and lightweight, oil-free hydration,” was worth a try. What’s unique about this product is, it appears un-tinted when first massaged onto skin, and then it releases a subtle, sheer hint of color, providing a flawless, fresh radiance. And it really does work. According to the company, the mineral pigments in VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen are specially coated so that the color is released as the moisturizer is blended into skin. Key ingredients include a Mangosteen Energy Complex, said to help optimize cellular energy and limit the release of free radicals so skin can maintain its optimum function and still appear radiant. The Mangosteen Energy Complex is formulated with mangosteen fruit, cordyceps mushroom (a big ingredient over there at Origins) and ginseng. Sodium hyaluronate and trehalose keep skin soft and supple. Silica and laminaria saccharina absorb and control excess oil, while barley and wheat germ extracts build the skin’s barrier. And there’s more. Essential oils such as grapefruit (for the zing?), mint and rose are also part of the mix. But for a small crème packed with hearty ingredients, its scent and feel are both very subtle and pleasant. The pigmentation is very light and truly gives a glow, no glitter or shimmer here. Well done, Origins! More info: www.origins.com
